Learn the Fundamentals
Saint Aidan's House Lay Institute programs are taught in the context of short term worshiping communities that learn together over a weekend or a week-long retreat format.
Our Lay Institute studies do not require homework, writing papers or taking exams like our seminary programs, but they do require commitment to participate in a group that will worship, pray and learn together over a weekend or week long retreat.
During our retreats, we will practice the daily offices of the historic church (times of daily prayer) to worship together, as well as to learn where our worship and prayer practices come from and what they mean. At the end of a Saint Aidan’s House Lay Institute retreat, you will be enriched by a fuller understanding of your faith, including:
- Foundations of the Anglican Faith
- Our Connection to the Historic Undivided Church
- Influence of Monastic Spirituality on the Anglican Church
- Liturgical & Sacramental Theology of “The Book of Common Prayer”
- Shape & Structure of the Worldwide Anglican Communion
